At times I lack the courage To love God as I should To see him through the darkest night There on the patterned wood To understand he gave his son So I could love achieve And recognize that in my time In me he does believe I hear him call to me each night So gentle and so kind Bringing truth and confidence As I his beauty find Encouraging my every thought As dreams he does reveal And every now and then he’ll ask If I his passion feel His heart too beats in unison With those who understand That loving is the perfect gift To share with all the land That darkness cannot shroud the sun If God is in my heart And that each breath that I might take With him does find its start He loves me as a father should Protecting me from harm And though mistakes I freely make It raises no alarm For he gave me humanity The freedom and the right To choose a pathway of my own Through dark and endless night And if I choose within my heart To be fulfilled with love He’ll join with me forevermore In heaven high above
