| Category - Children | | A Poem from the Annabel Collection | | Annabel Selectively - Viewed 185 Times | David Devaney Website January 01, 2011 |
She took a bright blue bucket Did Annabel this day With brother Harry by her side They went outside to play They climbed that wooden boardwalk And opened up the gate Then stepped onto that sandy beach Where seashells did await It was the first day of the year The tides were running high The north winds whispered silently Brown pelicans did fly The breaking waves were crystal clear That coursed across the sand And everything was beautiful Where Annabel did stand Her water eyes would see each crest Then loudly she would cry “Watch out the oceans coming You must be quick and spry” Then brother Harry giggling Would laugh and run around Picking shells for Annabel That by the sea he’d found A treasurechest most colorful Of every shape and size Sweet Annabel was gathering Beneath the winter’s skies There were so many different ones Collected on the beach So Annabel selectively Did for the best ones reach Then back across that boardwalk path To wash and dry each one She’d take them home to Metairie Before this day was done
