A Poem from the The Poet and His Thoughts Collection
The Voice of The People The Poet the Seer - Viewed 54 Times
David Devaney
Website
October 04, 2011
One voice in one thousand
One thousand times ten
We grow to a million
Again and again
We question we wonder
Will ever they hear
The voice of the people
The poet the seer
Or is it just money
That always controls
No virtue no ethic
Great wealth now extols
Elected converted
The left and the right
Their only concern
Their wealth and its plight
Ignoring the people
Condemning us all
To this life now impoverished
That does us befall
Yet still there is freedom
In this home of the brave
And honor and justice
No right to enslave
So as we begin
To voice our disdain
The heart of the people
Becomes our refrain
One voice in ten million
Ten million times ten
Speak loudly and proudly
So indenture will end
The bankers and brokers
Who’ve cast us aside
Will soon feel our wrath
As our goals all coincide
Ten million times ten
Speak loudly as one
This change in our nation
Has only begun
And though they contribute
In billions and more
Until there is change
They’ll not find the cure
So listen good people
Take heed and be strong
Let’s end this abuse
It’s lasted too long
